Fees and Rebates
Consultation Fees
The usual fee billed by our psychologist is lower than the recommended fee set by the APS of $254 for a standard consultation session (e.g. sessions that are 46-60 minutes long).
Medicare Rebates
A referral is not needed in order to book an appointment with our psychologist. However, a referral is required to receive rebates for your session fees through Medicare. A valid referral (Mental Health Plan) will be required from your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist.
We are able to refer you to a GP if you do not have a regular GP. If you are choosing to make a claim via your private health extras fund, a referral is not necessary.
- If you are a Medicare cardholder, you are entitled to receive a rebate, which will aid in covering payment for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (as of Jan 2013).
- If you hold a concession card, you may be eligible for a concession fee.
- Payment for your session fees may be covered by your Private Health Extras Cover and rebates, depending on your level of cover.
- Clients are unable to receive a rebate from both Medicare and their Private Health cover in a single session.
Please do discuss the fees and rebates when you arrange your appointment with us
Cancellation Policy
Please contact us as soon as possible to re-schedule if you are unable to attend as arranged. Failure to give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation, or non-attendance of an appointment will incur a cancellation fee of your standard consultation rate. This fee is not covered by Medicare/WorkCover/TAC/Third Parties and applies to all Gap Fee and Bulk Billed clients. The Cancellation Fee must be paid within 48 hours or at your next appointment, whichever is earlier.
A late cancelled appointment is a loss to three people:
- The client who is delaying their therapy progress.
- The psychologist who has spent their time preparing for the session.
- Another client who has been sitting on the waiting list to see the psychologist urgently.
